I for one still have a kid waiting to hear about interviews. Thought I'd carry it over...

Does anyone have any clue about how much kitchen equipment they will need to take?! My DC is going to one of the oldest Cambridge colleges. They've been sent a form to indicate accommodation preferences but no confirmation as yet - will they send a list of what they need?

My understanding is that most of the college kitchens don't have ovens. Do they have stoves or just microwaves? Also know that there's a subsided dining arrangement but it's not fully catered...

I don’t think my DD is in the same college as your DC. But her situation is identical. I am encouraging her to bring the minimum with her, see how things are and then add whatever may be missing.

For what it's worth, we sent my son with a couple of saucepans (one pasta pan and one wok) couple of wooden spoons, knives, chopping board and a couple of plates, cutlery, mugs etc.

His gyp was tiny so there was limited space to store, or cook in but somehow he managed. As a STEM student he found meal times in hall difficult due to labs and supervisions so preferred self catering even though the Colleges don't really recommend them doing so.
