Any interest in a non-Oxbridge/ non-RG parents chat?

There are lots of threads about applying to Oxbridge and other ‘top’ unis, anyone interested in a thread for those of us with DC looking elsewhere? Not trying to be divisive, but there’s no ‘drop in centre’ thread for other unis, and I thought it might be good to have a space to chat sometimes.

Thanks! Just done the Swansea drop off here. Nice room so fingers crossed she’ll be happy.

best to all of us as we learn to deal with empty (or emptier) nests.

We’re dropping off to Man Met later today! Exciting! Good luck to everyone doing drop offs. Here’s hoping they all have a great time & make the most of the adventure!

Good luck to you all it is hard. Dd has 2 weeks till drop off as lancaster is very late. Still trying to sort out what she needs. It easier second time round, to those who are 1st timers they are home more than you think!

Just dropped DD, empty nest now! They’ll be back next weekend for their gran’s funeral, and I’m quite worried about DD. I hope the excitement and new friends keep her going. Hugs to all parents.

Dropped DS in Notts at the weekend. He doesn't know anyone there and was a bit wobbly when I left. However, in the last couple of days, he seems to making friends and going out I was worried that he's be sat in his room playing Xbox, now I am worrying that he is peaking too soon ffs.

I just need to let him crack on, be glad that he is enjoying freshers, getting drunk and eating cheese toasties at 4am like a proper student.

Very belatedly joining! My eldest had a tough experience of A-levels then took a gap year and made a late decision to apply through clearing, so he’s starting at Northumbria this weekend. He is so looking forward to it!

Hope it's all going well for all. DD1 is now in Swansea - induction day today after a heavy week of partying... Apparently her flat has bought a 'glitter ball for the kitchen' (vital) but she has also sent me some lovely photos of the beach.
