Anyone know anything about private halls at Bath Uni?

I'm asking for next year for my DS - he has autism and is quite shy/private and I am not sure if he will find friends quickly enough in time to apply for a shared student house next year (although a busy shared house may be too much for him to cope with anyway).

I have heard about private halls at various universities and I wondered if anyone knew what the ones at Bath are called/where they are? So that I can have an idea of what might be available and how much it costs and when the deadlines generally are.

Other than that, are there student flats for smaller numbers than would occupy a shared house? I've seen the standard number is 4-5 people. He might be better either on his own or in a flat of 2-3.

Thank you

Uni of Bath has studios in there Green park City accommodation. It’s a mix of Studios, twodios and shared flats

following, dd is applying for bath also and is autistic. Accommodation will be a big issue for her. She also has a mobility issue which means walking distances will cause pain.

Have you checked with the uni if they have any provision for students with disabilities or additional needs to stay on campus after first year? I’ve not heard of it for Bath but I know that it’s possible to stay in halls in Surrey for the whole duration of your degree.

I think there is provision to stay on campus for such situations, however the pressure on their accommodation seems to be huge - which is why I am thinking of alternatives.

@imip im sure they would help your dd. They’ve been very good with my ds. There is accommodation that would take about 1 min walk to get to lectures.

I don’t have any info about private halls but DD is at Bath and last year she shared a house with only two others. So there are smaller rental properties available - this was a terraced house in Oldfield Park.

Thank-you! Dd went to the disability support lecture and thought it was good, but I think she was overwhelmed at the open day yesterday and really needs time to process the visit.

time for me now to look into accommodation! CAMHS will be writing a very comprehensive discharge report when she is 18 and she also has an EHCP, so hopefully she will have good evidence for support. I think a shared house for her will be catastrophic and she would need a halls-type environment.

I think Bath will try to accommodate him on campus in halls, which could make life much more straightforward. Def worth pursuing with them. Their student support services seem very good.
