Italy Visa - Insurance ‘affidavit’

Seeking help please, my son is due to imminently start a year abroad (Italy) as he’s been put forward by his home Uni in UK.

Does anyone know if an ‘affidavit’ has been needed for medical insurance for the Visa appointment?

Study Visa D - item 12 on the checklist attached.

So, do acceptance letters from universities say anything about an insurance policy, and do you need an affidavit or write a declaration about medical insurance?

Any experience on this would be very welcomed x

I have no direct experience but at this stage they are not asking for the insurance policy.

There may also be translation issues, notably the word "specified". What I think this means is that the acceptance letter either will or won't say "We will arrange the medical insurance when you arrive".

(Do you have the acceptance letter yet?)

If the letter doesn't say that, then at this stage I think you just need to write a few fancy words ("I, the undersigned, Tom Wonderwall, certify that I understand the need for medical insurance in the context of this visa application and I solemnly declare that I will obtain a policy with [copy details of coverage] before my arrival in Italy").

Thank you for your reply, most appreciated. That certainly makes sense and thanks for the suggestions. I’ll feedback after the appointment next week and keep this thread updated for future reference. Wish us luck! X
