Hi I'm probably being paranoid, it's only been a week but my son got his email from University of Nottingham on results day saying welcome you have a place and accommodation already confirmed so await further information and we've not heard a peep since.

I was expecting them to tap us up for deposit on accommodation quite quickly and I know you have to book a move in slot.

He's had nothing about getting registered, paying fees, picking modules etc etc

Are other Nottingham offer holders in the same boat? This is my first uni child so not sure how it works these days?

Could you give them a ring?

I had an offer for a different uni on results day, as a mature student I’m not staying on campus but I’ve already had emails to set up my online account, submit a photo for ID and complete online induction. Has he checked his spam folder?

idiotfacelicker · 22/08/2024 10:03

I think Spam folder is a good shout, although the offer email didn't go to Spam but of course the other stuff will likely come from different email addressed.

I'll get him to check Spam when he gets up. Thanks.

No problem, if not just give admissions a call - they’ll be really helpful and will let you know when you can expect to hear from them.

here’s their welcome website - he can work through that. But he should have had some comms, so second checking junk mail. For his accommodation, can he log into the portal where he applied and see if there are tasks? The turnaround can be quite quick so he doesn’t want to miss anything!

Welcome

He's now confirmed nothing in junk.

The welcome hub says instructions to pay accommodation are in his offer email but his offer email just says as he's already booked his accommodation there's nothing else he needs to do for now and to look out for further emails.

I guess Nottingham have a lot in clearing this year so perhaps the admin stuff is taking a bit longer as a result.

I really would ring them OP.

Has he checked his university email account ?

He hasn't been given one yet.

I think as PP said a phone call is in order.

My son went to U of N last year. It took a while for this stuff to come through- I remember I kept nagging him to check. They start a week later than a lot of unis too (bar Oxbridge). It was around 25th Sept when he moved in. The first thing your son will be asked to do is set up an account and then all the tasks are set via that. I paid his first halls bill really quite late I recall- they weren't desperate for it!

Fayrazzled · 22/08/2024 15:10

He won't get a university email address until he is prompted to set up an account. Honestly- don't fret yet!

idiotfacelicker · 22/08/2024 15:17

Thank you fayrazzled, that is very reassuring.

I appreciate I am being neurotic. I know this about myself. I just like to get these things done and dusted and checked off the to-do list!
