I'm a trained Primary teacher with 9 years classroom teaching under my belt. I've just given up work to be with Dd's for a while. I'm contemplating taking my British Sign Language stage 1 in September (mainly because I quite enjoy learning and I've always wanted to do BSL). So, if it all went well and I passed my exams, went on to take BSL2 etc \etc, what sort of things, other than teaching would be open to me?
Just curious really

I always thought it would be rather cool to be the person who stands at the front of the stage during plays doing sign language so that hearing impaired people knew what was happening.

yes, my Mum used to do that (she's a heck of a lot better than me though and has been signing for years!) She also did that signing in the egg at the bottom of the news thing once!

I suppose you could go into Social Care...maybe working with death children or even adults....

you could get a job as a further education interpreter, for students over 18 who need notes etc communicated to them due to being hearing impaired. you spend the day etc in the classroom/lecture room with them and other members of the class. It is all about inclusion really.

Thanks ladies, this all helps, I'm mulling all things over at the moment and am unlikely to return to work for a while, but it helps to have ideas
