Can someone please tell me a bit about the standard superior rooms in Garden Halls? I read a travel review that HPT is mice infested and now I am really worried. Part of the UOL intercollegiate halls

Nothing helpful to add just wanted to say I lived in Hughes Parry Hall as it then was back in the 80s when I left home at 18!
It is an absolutely fantastic location for Central London. And the actual immediate area has a very village feel to it. Russell Square used to be a notorious cruising ground for gay men, but that's no longer the case.
There is an excellent coffee and pastries stall just outside Russell Square Tube as well.

DD stayed in there 3 years ago. Never mentioned mice and taking into account how squeamish she is of anything creepy crawly, she would have told me.
Indeed great location.
Didn't get on well with others on her floor but made friends with others in the building.
Did have the bathroom and corridor flooded on one occasion.

Was HPT in bad shape when your child was there? Was it grotty?was she on a high floor? Thank you for your information

She was at the ground floor.
I don't think more grotty than average student room. Although I suspect at the end of the year, knowing DD normally doesn't bother cleaning, I suspect it was...
Too be honest none of my two who live in London have been too fussed about their rooms, a room is a room, place to sleep.

Another resident of Cartwright gardens the 90s for me and in Commonwealth Hall which was knocked down. Loved the area then adore it more now when I go back.

One of our children was in International Hall last year and had a lot of friends in nearby Garden Halls. The location of both is absolutely unbeatable and amazing for meeting lots of people and being at the heart of London student life. Garden Halls has a reputation for being a bit smarter than International, which is definitely 60s spartan.

Ceramiq, I think it depends a bit on which part of Garden Halls. The main part looks quite posh, big entrance etc. However the Hugh parry tower on the side (with separate entrance) not so much

DS1’s girl friend was in HPT 3 years ago and no mice then. Rooms less glossy than garden halls but bigger and perfectly comfy

Hi. My Dd've just finished her first year in UCL and lived in Garden Halls in the self catered part. She has never mentioned any mice or other creepy crollies and she would have if any in her room. Her room was in the upper floors. She had the time of her live. In my opinion Garden Halls location is really good.

I am very grateful for all responses🙂
