DD is looking to apply for Sparsholt for an animal/conservation based course for September 2026. She’s planning on doing a 2 year foundation course with the option to move to Portsmouth for another 2 years to top up to a full degree

She has autism and some other disabilities so I'm just interested in whether anyone has any direct experience of attending the uni.

She’s been to have a look round with college and really liked it, but didn’t get to see the accommodation or anything like that.

We will go to one of the proper open days at some point, but in the mean time, I just wondered if anyone/their DC had been.

Thanks!

It was a feeder for many of our SEN students. There's a good mix of kids from practically minded SEN to posh farming kids who want to do nothing else. It's largely a college rather Uni so that's reflected in the age range. I would say that it's got a long history as a good agricultural college so they don't encourage those with low academic skills just because they are practically minded.

I love Portsmouth Uni too. It has great resources and is a lovely city despite its grotty rep. Cheap accommodation, lots of student support and of course the sea and beaches.

Only have experience of the college, not the uni. My DD has an EHCP and was well supported for her 2 years doing animal care. She is rejoining in Sept following a kind of gap year.
