Bristol - bookings lost

Has anyone else had an email saying that due to a system error the bookings made for the open day have been lost? DD has tried to rebook but some are now fully booked. She's emailed to ask if they can do anything to help as the error was their issue but they haven't replied 🙄

i’d just rock up and feign ignorance

I would turn up. She may not be able to get into any talks (they were oversubscribed when we went but I shoved DD into the Q sharpish and she got in).
I do have to say though that Bristol had a "we are Bristol, come dont come, whatever" attitude when we were doing the rounds last year

We went to Bristol on a non open day as there was a date clash with another uni. The Anthropology department was so helpful. We asked to have a look around, explained the situation and they arranged for DD to meet the departmental admissions tutor then and there, and she spent a good 30 mins with her. Very positive impression

Just turn up. The bookings are a way we have of trying to gauge interest so we know what to tell students, staff, caterers etc etc etc.

Defo don't go to the Durham one then. They were very much you should be very honoured should we deign to make you an offer.

We didn't do Durham but Bristol were very like that too.
Bristol did actually make DD an offer after reading her personal statement (her route is a bit unusual) even though the Admissions lady we met there said not to put any effort into it because they didn't read them. DD is usually very sweet and forgiving but even she said the Admissions woman "was kind of a bitch"

The Bristol one we went to was a lovely man. I guess it's luck of the draw.

I guess you’ve bee now OP unless you’re doing tomorrow but DS found them a bit useless on the IT as well. He was supposed to get an email with the schedule of talks he’d booked but it didn’t arrive; I rang up on Monday and they said they’d resend it to him. Monday night he checked the email but the link in it was broken so he still couldn’t access the schedule. I rang again on Tuesday, they promised to resend with a new link, Tuesday evening he checked and that worked ok. He went today with DH and came back happy but I’d say their systems aren’t brilliant!

MrsAlwaysRight · 15/06/2024 07:33

She's going today so will just have to see if she can get into the talks she wanted to 🤞

We've just left. There were loads who hadn't booked on waiting and they seemed to get in to the talks.

MrsAlwaysRight · 15/06/2024 16:59

She managed to get into the talks she wanted although some were interrupted by protesters!
