If a student doesn't accept offers by 6 June, can they apply via Clearing?

If a YP doesn't accept on of the offers on the UCAS form by 6 June,
(I have a different thread about 'why' but essentially it is panic/unreadiness)
do the offers simply 'time out' ?
Should the YP contact the Uni by email directly to advise this (for politeness?)
Could the YP then apply via Clearing if they have calmed down a bit & made a decision by then? (I'm guessing they'd need to choose a different place!)

Yes the offers will show as declined by default after 6 June if no decision made.

If they are in this situation but decide before clearing opens they can apply via UCAS Extra to any uni that has a suitable (home student?) space.

Clearing opens 5 July so again can apply to any suitable vacancy then.

They made their 5 choices for a reason initially. So try to get then to firm and insure choices they genuinely liked at one stage. They can always withdraw at any stage then and use extra/clearing if they change their mind.

@Spirallingdownwards thank you, that's really helpful.
I think YP has to choose just one before 6 June (if poss) as it is grades-in-hand so all offers are unconditional?

Yes just the one then.

But may still be best to pull the plaster off and pick one.

Another tip if choosing between 2 toss a coin. Any flicker of disappointment that it wasn't the other then go with the other!

Good luck. I am sure they will get there in the end.
