Student Finance Login for Gen Xers

Hi - My daughter has applied for student finance and i need to link to her account, but my student loan was in the 90s (paid off at least 20 yrs ago now), will i need to speak to student finance to get my old account number or shall i just say 'no haven't had finance before'

Yes, you can phone them and link your account.

It's not too tricky.

Yep. You have to call SFE to get a log in. They should be able to do it without your old student loan account number.

I did it and had to wait for a letter with a number / login / something like that (it was a couple of years ago now!) They couldn't do it on the phone but it didn't take long to arrive.

I haven't had to do this? DD set up her student finance and said it's been accepted.

Is this because she's applying for the minimal amount for maintenance? We've not been asked for details of income? She's also applied for the fees loan.

You only need a log in if your DD is applying for the means tested part of the loan, @rosesinmygarden. It’s so you can fill in the income details form and send any financial documentation securely and privately without sharing it with your DC.
