Drama Schools: Conti foundation or MT degree at LIPA/ Brighton?

Hi,

DS has an offer for an acting foundation course at Conti. Acting is his strength but he wants to do musical theatre. He has degree offers from LIPA and The Brighton Academy. He's leaning towards the degree programmes but really unsure about LIPA as it's a new course and there seems to be little info. Also, it looks like 28 weeks a year vs 36 at Brighton.

Does anyone have any experience of any of these, or thoughts about what to do & how to decide?

TIA

I only know Conti, as an ex drama student and as an agent (I went there for a job interview). Conti is very child focused and their main contacts are in London based TV shows, like EastEnders and similar. I had a friend who as an adult went to Conti and absolutely nothing happened for his career, despite his talent (he'd already done a lot of regional theatre). That's all I've got, sorry not to know more. I'm sure someone else will come along with more info.

That info about Italia Conti is totally inaccurate. Their professional drama school has always been totally separate from the vocational school (which no longer exists) and they are producing quite a few working actors at the moment. The one who springs to mind is Sam Tutty.

Saying that it is always a risk taking a foundation course as there are no guarantees of progression.

Thank you. Sam Tutty was on the audition panel at Conti.

A foundation year does seem like a risk. And the conti foundation students have just been getting degree offers from places like Lipa and Brighton, so it just seems like delaying the process.
