Application for uni accommodation for deferred 2025 applicants

My DD has accepted her place for uni and now has a firm conditional offer deferred entry for 2025 as she is taking a gap year. Does anyone know what happens about securing accommodation for deferred entry applicants. She seems to think you do it now but I can only see info on website for 2024 entry. It may be on her application portal but thought I would try and have a look.

I would have thought that if taking a gap year you wouldn't bother to do accommodation until this time next year.

So anyone whose children have deferred and have a firm uni place for 2025 know how the accommodation applications work?

Depends on the uni. Each one is different. I would be very surprised if you could book anything now for 2025 though. Both my kids took gap years, one got his accommodation confirmed in May the following year, the other could apply in July but only got allocated post A-level results with everyone else.

Definitely depends on the Uni. DS formed with grades in hand so was a definite to start and he still had to apply with everyone else at his Uni. I think it must make it easier for the staff.

I think most would wait until spring next year.
