Birthday cake for delivery to university?

I have read on some thread (but can’t remember which) a suggestion of how to order a cake for delivery to a student at university. Can anyone offer ideas? (Specifically to Durham, but could be any national company).

sponge.co.uk

They delivered a cake to my son at Durham university and went down a storm!

The raspberry and chocolate brownies are also good

Whole Cakes | Sponge

Our whole sponge cakes come in lots of different flavours and two different sizes to feed 8 or 16 people generously! Next Day Delivery available.

It arrived well packaged and stayed fresh for several days. Apparently you mustn't put them in the fridge or they go hard.

You could also order a supermarket grocery delivery - with some additional items to make up the total (booze, chocolate etc) - which might be a more economical way of doing it

Ocado for M&S cakes with some alcohol and or goodies to make it up to £40 minimum delivery charge. Just discovered I will be able to user my delivery pass to send my don groceries when he goes in September.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I ordered from Sponge (cake and brownies — annoyingly required to make it as two separate orders).
good idea to order from a supermarket — will consider for another time.

I do as pp, and order from Ocado. I treat dd to one big shop a month and because I like sitting and working the offers out it is as cheap as reputedly cheaper supermarkets. And all that fabulous M&S food! Done two years of cakes that way now too.

Ordering cake wasn't something I'd considered but luckily DS' birthday is usually in the Easter Break. Have made a mental note of the suggestions because I bet there'll be a year when it isn't!
