When are people filling in forms for finance for 2024 start?
Thanks.

Student Finance England goes live in the next few weeks, I believe. Student Finance Wales usually a few weeks later. Dates tend to vary each year so look on the relevant website for more accurate info.

If you follow the Facebook page they'll tell you. The current page says "shortly". (for first years)

The government website says 'from end of March'.
My question is if you haven't had all your offers by then (and I know it says you don't have to have picked your universities before applying), and you don't know how much maintenance to apply for? For example if the student may be going to a local uni as opposed to a far away one requiring a higher amount? Do you have your say when you apply how much you are applying for?

You don't say how much you are applying for. Household income determines how much maintenance loan you get, and possibly how much grant. Tuition fee loan is £9250 per year.
You put in the name of the place you may be studying at but this can be changed at a later date

He took gap year to earn money to top up.

@WilderRose the government site has a finance calculator that estimates the loan amount, I've always found it fairly accurate.
