Has anyone had offers from Liverpool John Moores yet? Waiting on this final offer for DS to make his final decision, but he has been waiting a while and has responses from the other 4.

No, my daughter is waiting on them. It's her st choice at the moment. I have a feeling it will be after the UCAS deadline.

HouthiAndTheBlowJob · 16/01/2024 16:31

Thanks @Comefromaway I heard some universities do t reply until after the deadline. He has heard back from all the others, but we are waiting on this one to make a decision.

She only applied a couple of weeks ago. She has heard from two places so far.

HouthiAndTheBlowJob · 16/01/2024 19:08

My son applied in early December and has 4 out of 5 responses, just waiting for this last one.

Surely it depends on the course and how popular it is. If the courses go into clearing then they should not take months and months to make offers!

WaitingForSunnyDaysAgain · 16/01/2024 19:36

Yes, mine has. A weirdly high one too especially as he thought he'd get a contextual offer. It was going to be his insurance, but not in the running now.

decionsdecisions62 · 16/01/2024 19:51

For what course?

I PMed and then realised you were probably asking the OP

Comefromaway · 16/01/2024 22:41

Update.

she has been asked for copies of her qualifications and in particular her dance qualifications (she has level 3, 4 & 6 qualifications). She is a slightly older applicant though and has applied independently not through college (she left college 3 years ago).

HouthiAndTheBlowJob · 16/01/2024 23:03

Sports and Exercise Science. He really liked this course and the facilities.

Same course Houthi

Same course Houthi

Oh wow! Looks like they are considering applications at the moment then. I hope we hear something soon.

Don't read too much into it as she has applied for the course with foundation year as she doesn't have science A levels. So they might be dealing with those first.

She originally trained as a dancer (hence only 2 arts/humanities based A levels) and has spent the past few years working/performing but now wants to retrain in sports science.

Still nothing from LJMU. DS is starting to worry, although I have told him he may not get anything until February.

@HouthiAndTheBlowJob Deadline date is way beyond Feb! Does it matter that much if it’s March? Every year dc wait. It’s normal. I’d just put dates to one side and get on with life.

Well it matters to my son as he is neurodivergent and does not cope well with change. He is concerned about not knowing where he will be in September, for the first time in his life and because of his difference he is getting very anxious and can’t get on with life in the same way a neurotypical person might. He has all of his other offers but really wanted LJMU.

TizerorFizz · 20/01/2024 00:47

@HouthiAndTheBlowJob I am obviously sorry he’s so anxious but realistically, there’s no answer. Its a reality that this might happen and can happen to many thousands of dc. So how you and he manage needs to be considered. What happens if he is anxious at uni?

Comefromaway · 20/01/2024 11:28

But my two are autistic so I do understand.

When my son applied he heard from 3 of his choices very quickly.

Notts Trent gave him an offer within a couple of days of his application going in.
LCCM & BIMM offered auditions within a week. He did one and declined the other - the offer for the one he did then came a couple of days later.
Leeds took a few weeks to offer an audition. He then had to wait about a month for an offer. It arrived in March
He heard nothing from Salford until March. Friends whose son had applied for a media course were the same. They then offered him an audition and offered him a place on the day.

some places you just have to wait I’m afraid.

TizerorFizz · 20/01/2024 14:36

@Comefromaway So how did they cope with the wait? That appears to be the issue. I don’t see how that can be changed and plucking future dates out just makes the disappointment greater. It’s just best to explain why you have to roll with it. I can see it’s difficult but it’s the same for all.

Comefromaway · 20/01/2024 21:07

With Ds he had so ch a lot going on with his music. After the stress of the audition fir his 1st choice (it was recorded and he’s not good at filming, only playing live) he sort of assumed he’d not got a place.

dd had to apply fir very competitive places aged 16 so it’s not her first time. She was obsessively checking ucas until her 1st offer came in. She’s still waiting for LJMU which is her 1st choice but she’s more relaxed knowing she has two offers.
