Conflicted DC (stem Vs economics)

Has anyone had a DC who is quantitatively orientated (likes maths), but can't decide between stem (physics etc) or economics?

What did they do?

@alphaqw mine did Economics & Statistics BSc at UCL: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/undergraduate/degrees/economics-and-statistics-bsc-econ

It's definitely a quantitative degree, not a social science.

Lots of the very highly paying finance jobs (eg at Jane street) need more maths than an economics undergrad can give. They want maths, CS or physics, maybe engineering. It is all about manipulating massive data using increasingly complex algorithms
