UCAS form and fees

Hello

Ds has just shown me that there’s a Q on his UCAS form about paying for fees.

we’re hoping to pay his fees out of savings rather than him getting a loan ( DH is really against borrowing so we have been saving for this). But I’m worried that admissions staff will see that we’ve put we”re paying and assume we are super rich (we are not) and that will count against DS.

Should he just tick the box for student loan? I don’t think the form is an application fir the loan- it’s just information. But does it actually count towards admissions?

It doesn’t count toward admission- it’s just information gathering.

Ah ha- so does that mean it won’t count either way towards whether he gets in?

Thank you btw.

Do you have a mortgage?
That is. Borrowing.
Savings for his first flat deposit will be more worthwhile than him paying off loans from his income over many years

its not a commitment at this stage

Tick the box for now. The decision whether to pay fees is actually made much closer to the time (you apply to the student loans company in May usually)

What would it matter if you were super rich? The university doesn't care. The financing has nothing to do with them (bar offering bursaries) but that's all done later in the Spring.

OP
Have you been sucked into the hype that universities are only interested in ‘disadvantaged’ children? And that children who went to private school don’t get a look in?
