Tuition fees / funding for uni?

Hi there

hoping someone can help me understand tuition fees as I’m searching the internet but can’t get a clear answer.

A couple of years ago I started a degree with the Open Uni (completed 1 year) then I pulled out as it wasn’t for me and life got in the way with young children.

now I’m thinking of starting a different degree in a couple of years at my local uni as i think I would be entilited to a maintenance loan meaning making i would still have some income.

my question is - because I done that first year with Open Uni and had 1 years tuition fee - would I get funding for another 3 years at uni for a different course? I can’t figure out if there is a max limit on years / tuition costs and if I would be eligible for it to be covered on student loan?

thanks!!

It used to be four years funding. It wouldn’t matter if it was at a diff uni but the max was four years.

The formula is Length of current course, plus one year, minus years already studied (with a year properly started, but not completed, counting as a whole year taken, unless uou have evidence of having had to abandon your studies due to compelling personal circumstances (or whatever the proper term is), such as severe ill-health.

So if only one year of funding was used up in the past, funding should be available for the whole length of the new course.
