My suggestion is a flu jab from Boots!

I've just booked my flu jab. Superdrug is the cheapest at £8 something if you sign up for one of their cards followed by Asda for £12.

@Passe @Judashascomeintosomemoney They only need a TV licence if either parents don't have one at home or they will be watching live TV or iPlayer on a TV or on a plugged-in device. If they are watching on a laptop using battery then they don't need one. See Students section in https://www.gov.uk/find-licences/tv-licence, which says If you live at another address outside of term time, you can use its TV Licence while you’re at university on any device that’s:

  • battery powered
  • not plugged in
  • not connected to an aerial

The little extras added to DDs growing pile:

Nintendo switch (not new just one she already has - the accommodation has a big tv in the shared kitchen so maybe a way to connect with people (if not she can use it in her room)
Firestick (for bedroom TV)
Paperwork (GCSE certs, driving licence, passport, copy of NI number, NHS number etc etc)
Carbon monoxide detector
Umbrella
First aid kit with pain killers, thermometer etc
Hot water bottle (she gets bad cramps)
Extension lead
Drawing pins for pinboard

I'm also doing her a little scrapbook - a sort of uni survival guide with some pics of family and friends from home, tips for safety/staying healthy etc plus some gift cards (for when you can't be bothered - deliveroo card, for when you need a lift - uber card etc).

Cheap plastic storage containers for leftovers, lunchboxes and snacks, dd asked for Kilmer jars as they were recommended on TikTok for storage, a clothes airer, my door stop and a lap tray for watching laptop in bed and moving stuff from kitchen to room.

A headboard clip on nightlight - battery operated in case there isn't a plug socket near the bed.

A nice throw/fleecy blanket for the bed.

Lemsips/berocca/big jar of multi vitamins/condoms

Wastepaper bin/liners

Flu jab before they go - bookable thru boots reasonable cost

Check tv licence requirements thru gov.co.uk

A couple of giftcards for nearest supermarket in case of budgeting emergencies

A list of handy phone numbers & addresses for things like dentist/doctor/hospital etc so it's nearby if needed

Basic first aid kit

The large zipped Sports Direct bags for life are handy for laundry!

Definitely extension leads. Just dropped DD and she has ONE plug socket miles away from bed! Also no drawers or bedside cabinet. So maybe some packing cubes to keep under bed for undies etc instead of using non existent drawers. Hangers incase there’s no drawers for T shirts and jumpers etc.
