Halls in Edinburgh on Royal Mile-where to park?

Dd starts Edinburgh in Sept and has accommodation in Milnes Court. Would anyone know where can we park to get all her possessions in as easily as possible?

It’s maybe worthwhile posting this on scotsnet, someone might know

There is a Parents of University of Edinburgh Students facebook page where others are asking similar!

Lovely location for halls. Fecking nightmare for parking. There is a large NCP car park in Castle Terrace but from there it's a 10 minute schlepp up the hill to the Royal Mile. Everything else is double yellows.

There's metered bays on market Street behind Waverley station. About a 5 minute walk from the mound, uphill. You won't get parked any closer I don't think.

Thanks all- didn't think about looking for a fb page, sounds useful.

There are usually social media groups for incoming students at each accommodation too.

We did it very early in the morning. Stopped outside Mylnes Court and ran everything upstairs in about 10 minutes and then went and parked the car.

9 years ago now but I stopped as far over as possible in a 'no stopping' place, put the hazard lights on. DSD and DH jumped out with all her stuff n about 30 seconds. I drove off, parked and walked back. He sat on her cases while she found out where she needed to go and then we did a couple of trips each. It's only halls; not like the next year when we had to do the same performance with housewares etc for the flat. York, Lincoln (x2), Birmingham and even UCL had better dropping off for Y1 accommodation than Milne's Court! Great spot and lovely atmosphere though. DSD loved it!!

Can you beg, hire, borrow a wagon and just pull in? The parking on all of Edinburgh is shit

I live in Edinburgh, parking is very difficult in this area. You could try booking a space in the car park of the Radisson Blu, which is on the Royal mile. My partner did this recently when he had an appt in the area. He isn’t very mobile so didn’t fancy a walk up the hill from Market street which has on street parking (pay and display). According to Google maps it is an 8 min walk to Milne Court, up Lawnmarket. A gradual incline, rather than a steep hill! Depending how much stuff you have, wheels would be helpful!
Sorry I don’t know how much this cost. You could phone hotel and enquire, you don’t need to be a resident.

DD was at another halls with no parking for arrivals. You could stop for loading/unloading outside (given a slot) and they had those big plastic trugs hotels use for laundry to wheel your stuff to inside. They suggested where you could park long term.

Check arrival info (they usually provide detailed info). Mylnes Court is close to some other halls (and New College) so maybe they are allowing limited parking slots for unloading inside somewhere but despite walking round that area frequently I can't remember where (or if) car access is (maybe off Ramsay Lane?)
