DS is hoping to go to university in 2024/2025.

He's a fan of balls and went to his school ones and defo has plans to go to uni ones. Yes he likes the look of Cambridge may balls. He likes the dressing up aspect and the party atmosphere.

He's been doing some career searching and been wondering what companies have "balls". I assume it's because he feels there's not many opportunities to go to balls after university

I assume it would be global large companies?

He could get involved with fancy charities like the OMV so even if he would prefer a different career, he could still attend balls:

I did a lot of black tie at Cambridge 20 years ago but i think lots have fallen away in the name of inclusion.
He'd be better off picking a career that interests him and then networking like hell/joining a members' club/going to eg Welsh Society, Scottish Society, balls. There's always something.

He told me he likes the fact that Cambridge alumni are allowed to go back to their colleges for the May Balls.

He genuinely enjoys those events

This reminds me of the friend I had who chose her child's primary school because they had a slide.

Less now than 5-10+ years ago, but in Top10 accountancy there’s at least one black tie event you can get to in a year. Probably more if you actively sought them out, but not many people do!
