Arts/music management - first degree or MA

DS interested in working in orchestra management, venue management, or something. Is it better to do a music degree, or indeed another degree, and then take an MA if still interested? Looking at A or A star grades. The music business degrees out there look interesting, seem to have good links, but have lower grade requirements, and I wonder if you decided part way through that it wasn't for you, whether you might regret specialising. Southampton do a joint mus/man degree but it's not integrated. Of course the other take is that you will never get a job and never earn much money so should avoid!

A management degree from somewhere like Bath is far better. You are looking at a niche degree but I think a broader undergrad is better. A decent management degree gets you anywhere. Music business is a very limited ambition. So I would get the best degree possible and see where that takes me. I don’t see how a music degree helps with management. Events management degree is not very well respected so I would swerve that and go for proper management if she’s got the right A levels.
