Did your dc get and what uni did they get into?
I guess I wanting to know what sort of GCSE's did people get that got into good universities.

Was it all 8&9 for good Uni's?

@lastdayatschool that is precisely what tells you that there is more to these emotive posts than just the thread. A lot of people have huge chips on their shoulders about theirs or their own dc's academic performance. When they clap eyes on threads like the OP's on the thread you mentioned, it tips them over the edge.

There must be others who didn't get stellar gcse grades. Mumsnet is weird. So much stealth boasting. It's like people just can't help themselves.

Please take this in the context of the question, the OP is asking about Oxbridge, there is going to be a certain calibre of students, the purpose is to point out that it isn't all 9s at GCSE. I don't apologise for posting here and it wasn't a stealth boast, it was to try and help the OP and point out that getting a 6 (like my daughter did) in your profile of GCSEs doesn't rule you out of applying to Oxbridge

@PettsWoodParadise huh? This thread is certainly not about Oxbridge. What made you think that?

There are only 2 good universities in the UK, surely you knew that?

Yes, aren't they Cambridge and Hull? Oxford's a complete dump!

The OP did NOT ask about Oxbridge

I know it's inconceivable that anyone could consider any other uni, but there you go

I do apologise! There have been so many of these threads. Some about Oxbridge, some about RG. All asking similar questions.
