Still waiting

Dd waiting for Edinburgh, will go if she gets a place and has A levels looming.
I know they've said most offers will be out by 30 April so only one more week although they do have until 18 May but for the love of god I wish they'd pull their bloody finger out!
Apparently it's the same every year, it just adds extra stress and distraction at a time when she could do without it.

@balzamico How tough for your DD - and you. I really think we ought to perhaps move to the Irish system - you put your courses in order of preference and everyone is told on the same day a week after results. You have a week to decide then the computer reruns the offers after people reject their places.

My DD withdrew her application last year in May as she was already into exams and just wanted to be able to focus on A Levels.

While I can appreciate that the waiting is horrible I’m not sure it is not the Admissions office who are entirely at fault here. Universities like Edinburgh or Durham have made offers to students who they would most like to have ie with the best grades or PS (depending on what the weighting of their criteria is).

It is now up to the students to either accept or decline that place. If it is declined they can offer it to another student who has applied but who perhaps has slightly lower predicted/achieved grades. This process takes time.

My daughter was lucky enough to get four offers from good universities. She understood that others would be having an anxious time waiting to hear so put her choices into UCAS straightaway in the hope that someone else’s wait time would be reduced. I do hope that you hear soon with good news

DD has just received an offer from Durham, for Russian only not JH with History, but she's happy. Just glad to have an answer, now she can get on with revision without it hanging over her!

That's great news @Weddingmum - well done to your DC

It's for an Art Foundation diploma not a degree but my daughter got fed up with waiting for UAL to get their finger out and has accepted a place where they gave her a two weeks deadline to decide. She was leaning towards it anyway but how poor is it for a world renowned art school to add to kids' stress knowing full well they are now doing their Art A level this week? I do not see how they, and Durham or Edinburgh or wherever people are still waiting, can justify the delay.

My daughter is also waiting to hear about her FAD application at UAL. She applied in early February; it's really unsettling for them to go into A Levels still not knowing.
Like yours, mine has accepted a place elsewhere but UAL is still the holy grail and if she gets it, she'll feel she has to take it (but I'm almost hoping she doesn't now, if this is the way they treat their students).

@Chocolate376 I know three kids who did Foundation at CSM in the last few years and not one has been positive about it. It's Camberwell for mine but to be honest we weren't that impressed with the end of year Foundation show last year nor their facilities. The only reason to really go for it is if they wanted a degree from there too - mine doesn't. She's speculating they are waiting to see how many international students take up an offer as they pay £20k for FAD!

DS rejected from Edinburgh this morning, for A&F, with the typically banal reason of:

We regret we are unable to offer you a place on this programme. Competition for places was very high, and because we received so many high-quality applications, we were unable to make offers to all candidates

3 offers and 2 rejections, so decision time now.

@bguthb90 I am so sorry you've had to wait so long. Onwards and upwards, fwiw DD now feels it was for the best and is excited for where she's going.
Once she got over the disappointment I think being able to know where she's going and apply for accommodation has been really exciting for her

@bguthb90 So sorry you had to wait so long for response, it's so hard on the kids. Glad to hear she's excited about choosing her accommodation. Where is she heading to?
