Leeds Conservatoire - how flexible?

DS has an offer from Leeds Conservatiore to study Classical Music. The offer is 96 ucas points. His A levels are not going well. He has a distinction at grade 7 for his instrument (trombone) and will be taking Grade 8 this term. How flexible are they likely to be about the grades?

Very often if an applicant doesn't get the grades they will offer Foundation Year which only requires 48 UCAS points. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as most of the other conservatoires are four year courses anyway.

I have always thought it a massive shame that there is not a classical music based Btec. My son got far, far higher grades in his Music Btec than he would ever have got in A levels (mostly because he only wanted to study music and nothing else!)
