Hoping to give and take advice. I can help with location and travel time for those with DCs hoping to study in London. Would like advice please on which of those companies offering accommodation ( scape, unite etc ) would be recommended..

I have nothing to offer but ds talking about accepting goldsmiths. I'm worried about the finances as there's nothing in the budget for top up to full loan. He does work tho - freelance and his expenses are low.

Hopeful bump

Fingers crossed for him .. yes it's very expensive and our DD also has low costs and works.. hope we can find some options for us to share and for future reference for others !

@stilldumdedumming luckily there’s still (reasonably) affordable accommodation around Goldsmiths (it’s why I live nearby!)

@MotherOfPuffling ah that is good news. He won't mind travel. He is sociable but has a lot going on and isn't into drinking and stuff. We haven't actually visited but going to an applicant day next weekend. He seems pretty set. He's waiting on Birmingham (where he could commute from home), but he fancies moving out).

DS2 is just waiting to hear if he got into Kings to do his masters. We have been looking at accommodation costs and they are eye watering even for the most basic of facilities.

I’m struggling to find somewhere for dd, she’s going to be studying in the Stratford area and everything decently priced has already gone and we can’t afford any to add to her full maintenance loan and that doesn’t even cover most accommodations

Hmm I'm a bit confused. Da has offers from Goldsmiths and Queen Mary. He has offer holder days. QM says it guarantees halls for first year. It's not that costly (his sister was in Liverpool and there's about £20-£40 per week difference).

He's an undergraduate tho.
