Question about income for student finance

Orangesandlemons77 · 25/02/2023 12:25

Does anyone know if my PIP or ESA benefits would count as income for calculating student finance please?

Or would it just be DH's income they would use?

I have a feeling PIP is not taxable income, but the ESA might be. It is the cont based one. They do use it as taxable income in calculating tax credits.

I couldn't see contact details on the website so thought I might ask here. Thanks

I asked the same question re PIP recently and was advised on here that it doesn't count as taxable income. But I don't know about cont based ESA, sorry.

I have a feeling the ESA might be counted as it is in the tax credits calculation, but would need to check this.

Also is a Child Trust fund taken into account? Thanks

Don't think child trust fund can be taken into account as it's DC's money not yours, and is savings rather than income. (Disclaimer - I'm not an expert!)

PIP - no.
CTF - no.
ESA - I don't know enough about it.
