Can anyone please recommend any language camp in Spain for my DS who is taking Spanish A-level. He would be going on his own (this summer) so would need accommodation as part of the package.

Sorry, I should probably have posted this in the secondary school thread! But nevertheless...

Hello. My daughter used camino barcelona, spent a week solo in a C1 class level in Y12. All good, central location with students from all locations but mainly US. This was July 2021, there were also a lot of uni students who had missed their year abroad due to covid. All are pre assessed and placed in relevant class according to ability vs age. Basic but functional apartments as part of the school.

My dd did a course here last summer. It includes accommodation with families. She was at the end of year 10 but they do it for all levels. Search for summer camp or summer school or some such. I would recommend. Proyecto espanol. Is the name of the link doesn’t work.

V much recommend this course in Salamanca. Two DC have done it (one aged 15, the other 17). Best to stay with a host family IMHO

My DS did a language trip to Salamanca in year 10. It was with school so not unaccompanied but they stayed with host families. It's a very safe city so I imagine unaccompanied in year 12 would be fine. The host families seem very used to having teens stay during courses.

DD did a course with AIP in Valencia and was happy with them. DD was 19 when she did the course, but I think there were a couple of girls who were sixth form age in her class.

My DD1 went to Salamanca with Don Quixote / Enforex a few years back. Their oversight/safeguarding was a bit iffy but at end y12 age should be OK. Really improved her Spanish, she was there for 3 weeks.

Make sure wherever you pick speak Spanish not Catalan.

I have sent several students to Salamanca (lived there myself in the distant past, and revisited last year) some with Don Quixote and a couple with another school there.
Highly recommend both the city and the course.
Language courses are used to individual students, they'll organise airport transfers etc. (only negative for Salamanca is the schlep from Madrid if you can't fly into Valladolid)

Ooh. Any similar advice for France and/or Germany?

PinaColadaBaby · 28/02/2023 14:44

Thank you all for the suggestions. Booked my year 12 DS and year 10 DD on a two week course with CESA Languages!
