EPQ Results - do they automatically get added to your UCAS application

My DD got her EPQ result on the 12th Jan - an A (YAY!) - the result was listed as pending on her application when she submitted it and she has already had five interviews and five offers from the application. Does the result automatically get added to her UCAS application? Does she need to contact UCAS to get them to add the result? Does her school add the result? Just not sure how it works and hoping that someone has experience of this.

UCAS get all quals taken in the last two years direct from the exam boards. Unis then import these results from UCAS, although they're not likely to do that till August.

It might be worth your DD emailing the admissions tutors at her 5 places just to update them. It can't do any harm.

I have a y13 prospective Music student who passed her grade 8 piano with distinction in December. I have told her to email the admissions tutors and attach a copy of the confirmation as it is relevant.

Why? She's got 5 offers! What else can they do with the information?

HappySonHappyMum · 18/01/2023 13:06

@titchy Because it's on the form as pending and if it never gets updated it'll look like she failed. Because I don't know how the process works and I know she's proud of the result because she worked really hard. Because some of her offers take the points from it as part of their offer so it needs to be in the system.

It'll get into the system when the unis download all results in August - including her A levels/BTEC/whatever she takes this summer. Don't worry honestly, it's a very straightforward process.

In the 'Undergraduate' area on the UCAS website, there is a 'Results, Confirmation, and Clearing'' section - under 'Sending Exam Results', there is a list of all the results which UCAS receives automatically.

Malbecfan · 20/01/2023 09:11

@titchy in the case of my student, she has applied for a Music course. It's completely relevant and there is no way that ABRSM results will update onto UCAS automatically.

My younger DD received 4 offers from her UCAS application in 2019. Following an offer-holders' interview, one offer was significantly reduced. So it's worth emailing as it costs nothing, may reduce the offer and shows the university that the student is still keen.

titchy · 20/01/2023 09:21

Agreed Malbec - but OP is talking about the EPQ which does get imported automatically.

MarchingFrogs · 20/01/2023 12:22

ABRSM grades 6, 7, 8 Theory and Practical exams are on the UCAS list.

Malbecfan · 20/01/2023 16:28

Indeed @MarchingFrogs but those results are not imported directly to UCAS

DD has both music grades, EPQ and A levels. EPQ submitted just before an October half term. Music result from 2020 manually entered, we are expecting EPQ and three A levels to be automatic. It all adds up potentially to four A levels but the top universities are really only interested in her three A level grades. She had done the music and EPQ for her enjoyment.

PettsWoodParadise · 20/01/2023 19:48

*four A level equivalents is what I meant!
