Maastricht University

Hi, anyone in here who has experience of Maastricht University? My son has a place for Sept 2023 (we live in Belgium so not a million miles away). I am just concerned about accommodation as know it's a huge issue in Netherlands- ie not enough of it !! All other groups, housing lists from Uni are spectacularly unhelpful!! Anyone got any words of wisdom? Thx

Maastricht is a lovely city. Not been for a few years but remember it being easy to get round. I think most course taught mainly in English to target the international student market. Would have been an option for us pre Brexit. Sorry I don't know anything about the accommodation though.

I work closely with a group at Maastricht uni and go there a lot, so can ask next week if you don't get any answers - my interactions are with PhD and post doc students but I'm sure someone will know. My colleague lives in Utrecht and I know it was a nightmare finding her daughter a place to live (she's not at Maastricht though, but in NL), and she didn't move into her flat until November having to commute before that.
I've noticed that there are huge numbers of students on the train whenever I go - not sure if that means they live in further out towns or live at home.
Lovely place though, and incredibly international population

Yes this just confirms the horror stories I have heard about accommodation! I need to get on the case ASAP! It is a lovely city and only 1.5 hours from where we live so a good compromise I think . Plus yes son will be studying in English - first time for him as all schooling has been in French. But he passed the English entry essay thingy and speaks fluently so I think he will be ok! Any info on accommodation would be wonderful ! Thank you
