Advice on how to effectively do university readings

Looking for any tips from academics.

I’m finishing off the last few credits of my masters. I’ve done well so far in terms of higher education (good 2:1 at undergrad, masters credits at distinction in my PGCE and am currently sitting on a distinction for my hobby social sciences masters based on what I have done so far). Only issue now is that I have a 4 month old baby and I am incredibly sleep deprived.

husband is amazing and so is my mum, have lots of support in terms of looking after baby- but I am struggling so hard with my readings. Everything seems so abstract and they are sooooo long that my concentration wanes. I have tried breaking them up, but often I have forgotten what I have read before

currently sat in a cafe with a beautifully sleeping baby and had better sleep last night- but I’m losing the will to live. I have been doing my readings on a kindle, then making paper notes but I’m not sure if the concepts are going in.

kind of venting. Kind of looking for help. I already interrupted as I was ill over my pregnancy so I really need to finish this year despite baby.

Get your readings printed out. Break them down into chunks and as you go through highlight important bits, add post it’s to explain, annotate etc
