Student loans & Access course experiences for Midwives

Hello all.

I plan to have a career as a midwife, I want to do this by completing an access course into Midwifery and then university.

I am a bit apprehensive as everyone I know who has been to university says it’s not worth it because of how much you end up paying on loans. Can you share your experiences with me please?

Also I would like to know your/others’ experiences of the access course I.e how the journey was for you to complete it.

Thanks for reading.

They take a very small amount once earning over the threshold and after 30 years it's written off, what are are you?
I've recently done an access course and for anyone with no qualifications I'd say it's the best thing you could ever do, and really does prepare you for university

Dint get me wrong, access courses are intense, full on and stressful, but very worth it, you just need to get on top of time management

I did mine online, I think it was worth doing personally. It gave me good foundations for the degree. Id say go for it.

For those starting university fro. 2023 onwards, the repayments will go on for longer before the remainder is written off, and the repayment threshold will be lower, but the principle is the same.

There is also the NHS Learning Support Fund grant.
