RSL music production level 3

Hi. Just wondering if there are any wise folks who might have some insight into RSL level 3 music production qualification. My DS has been tempted to take this qualification by a local college. He will do A level music and another A level alongside it. He wants to do music at Uni. I've spoken to one Uni today who said they don't recognise it as desired qualification. His other option is A level music tech at another college. He's properly had the big sell from the first college and I'm so worried he will have door closed, particularly the top universities if he opts for the RSL qualification. He's digging his heels in a bit and I'm trying to remain calm and present facts so he can try and make an informed choice. I have a host of telephone numbers to call tomorrow to find out info from different university music departments but I wondered if there was anyone in the know on here? At least it's stopped me panicking about his actual GCSE results! Thank you 😊

Which uni did you speak to ?
My DD did the level 3 music prod only , gained enough ucas points to go to v good uni , though had done a lot of extra curricular recording and other tech stuff. Plus another year at college as she wasn't ready to go to uni at the time .

If he's doing other A levels , including music , he should have enough to get into a god uni surely ? What response have you had from other unis ?

@Northlights thank you for replying. I contacted several unis and there were differing responses from outright no (Sheffield) definite yes (Newcastle) and possible depending on ucas points and the delivery of the course (Liverpool). Nottingham seemed to say needed 3 A levels in addition to RSL but their email was a bit confusing. York was a yes but encouraging considering the A level incase he changed his mind re music. RHC was no but we take a holistic view so a mixed bag. So no further forward but added issue is DH thinks DS should consider a STEM degree (DS did really well in sciences - hates maths though) because he doesn't know where a music degree would take him.
