Ds is in Scotland so did Highers rather than A levels. So, you do Highers in lower 6th, Adavanced Highers / resits in upper 6th. He struggled & doesn't enjoy school as he has Autism & Dyslexia so us not staying for upper 6th. Therefore he needs to do the HNC/D route to University.
He wants to go to Abertay to do a Computing Degree. We are rural, there is a local College here. Limited courses & support but better than 6th form & a good 'bridge' between home & Uni.
So, he has a straight choice:
HNC now then 1st Yr Uni next yr.
OR HND for 2 years then into 3rd Yr Uni
(tiny chance hnd won't run in 2nd Yr if low student numbers in which case he'd be awarded an hnc)
The 1 Yr HNC is in Cyber Security, so, a funky fun subject. He could then start any one of 5 Computing degrees but would have to choose & apply this autumn which is probably FAR too fast.
Or, if he did complete both years of the HND he'd go straight into Y3 of the 4 Yr hons Degree but only into the general Computing Degree rather than a specialism such as Cyber Gaming etc
Does anyone have any advice please?
