My DD has her confirmed grades but looking at 2023 entry so wondering if there is a site where you can enter your actual achieved grades and get suggestions of where you fit the entry criteria to save trawling through all the uni websites individually
Is it worthwhile applying to a RG uni that has an entry of 1 grade higher than your actual results eg requesting ABB and achieved BBB or is that a waste of an application. Seems in years gone by there was a little flexibility but this year i hear its different

This is a useful site. It also lets you know what's in clearing at the moment.

Www.what Uni.com

We're in the same position here re grades. He got AAB and expected at least AAA. Considering a remark but don't know the actual mark he got for the B which is now the subject he's decided he wants to study. Will be interested in the answer to that one.

Thanks @VirginiaQ
You can requests the marks from your school then request to look at the script for the paper you feel had isssues and decide if a remark review is a good idea. If its 1 or 2 marks away i would give it a try. Good luck AAB is really good though!!

Same position as well. When using the 'what uni' site look at the most common grades section as that is quite revealing between what they wanted and what they took. This can also help with seeing if the uni will take lower 'typical requirements' especially for those with confirmed grades.

Have the confirmed grades altered their degree subject? Mine is now considering a different direction (within science) due to achieving an unexpected grade.

@Mondayagainohno

I know it is! Thank-you. I’m actually quite cross that I’m even thinking about it. He was taking a gap year so no rush but the world has really gone mad. His friend was offered a place to do the subject he wants to do and his offer was A x3. He got A x2 and A and they withdrew his offer!,,

VirginiaQ · 22/08/2022 19:51

Sorry. 3 A stars and got 2 A stars and an A.

Mondayagainohno · 22/08/2022 19:57

we got a remark from 2 marks down and it was increased by a grade but sadly didn't change offer status of rejection!

It might be worth asking the school/college for advice. There is a bit on UCAS where teachers/advisors can do exactly this, however it explicitly states that it is not to be shown to candidates, rather the information should be used to inform discussions around courses/universities to apply to.

Only a few years ago if you dropped one grade you are likely to get an offer it’s seems it’s gone nuts !
