Anyone else still waiting for OCR or Pearson grades?

My son is still awaiting his OCR Cambridge Technical grade in IT which should have been issued Thursday/

No communication from OCR to him directly, just weak updates which do not tell us the problem, how many people were affected and how many still are. We have been given no timescale for resolution.

Whilst his firmed uni have said they will hold his conditional place until they hear, they will not hold him any accommodation.

The last OCR update said for students to call a number they supplied. We did this and they then announced they could only provide updates to school exam officers. Obviously we are on summer break and it was a Sunday!

Just wondered if anyone else is caught up in this issue with OCR (or BTEC as I know some are impacted with them too)? Feels very lovely trying to support my son when there is nothing we can do to speed things up.

I'm not directly but work in a college and the no second year L3 students have their OCR It results yet. The college has called and tried communicating with ocr since Thursday morning and is making no progress despite everyone absolutely trying their best our end. OCR are a disgrace to be honest. They are not being clear what the issue is so the department have sent every bit of info they can find over but still got no results. Hoping it resolves quickly for you

@IgnoranceIsStrength thank you for your reply. It's actually weirdly reassuring that it's all of them as I was starting to worry the issue was specifically with my son.

Their lack of transparency is disgraceful, just listened to it being discussed on BBC breakfast and they say that they are still not being clear on numbers but less than 3000 across the 2 boards.

Yes, my son is still waiting for results from his BTEC. It's appalling. I just hope he gets what he needs as all the clearing places are being snapped up.

Pearson have been working hard on damage limitation rather than getting results out. They say only a tiny amount are affected, and have been releasing grades hourly. But we're on Monday, so it can't be a tiny number can it.

They didn't acknowledge what had happened until late Thursday evening so we spent all day panicking and refreshing, which has continued all weekend.

Sorry you're both in this situation too.

Kayjay2018 · 22/08/2022 07:58

@DandelionSoup all we have had is a "small percentage". But 2.5% of the overal people taking these vocational qualifications is still about 6000 of them!

Did you see the coverage on BBC breakfast? Pearson and OCR still won't say exactly how many.

Has you son checked the uni he wants to see if they have clearing spaces? Although my son has a conditional offer I can actually see they have reduced the required UCAS points quite considerably and can see there are still vacancies. I think most universities have that info on their websites

Yes, my son is still waiting for his Art & Design results. The college is as unhappy as everyone else, but they can't get any info from OCR. What is the issue? And what makes it worse is that it happens every year - who knew? The difference is that the students have brought it to light on social media this year - hopefully it will shame OCR into changing their ways in the future. Not that it helps our kids ...

I'm quite new to Twitter and have to admit ocr have had quite a hammering from me. No swearing etc. I've had 2 journalists get in touch wanting to interview my son, he is too shy (plus abroad on holiday).

It's just had a very brief mention on the BBC 6 O'Clock News

It's an absolute disgrace

Kayjay2018 · 22/08/2022 18:53

I think the fact they just won't tell us how many are left and a timescale makes so distrusting of them. How hard can it be. Throw data into a computer system/ spreadsheet, whatever, create your formula and there you go there are the grades, here is an email, send,

They must know how many they have left, how long they take roughly) and how many hours of resource they have available. That's all they need to start providing a timescale

Daughter has received her results from the college, but UCAS/Uni placement still unconfirmed. She just phoned Pearson- has been told the results will be sent out to the Uni/UCAS in the next 24-48 hrs. She had already spoken to the Uni who advised her to forward her results to them independently so hopefully will hold her place and accommodation.
Conversely my son has not had his results (same college different course) BUT has had his Uni placement confirmed.
I feel for those students who have had neither.. it's absolutely scandalous and must be extremely upsetting

Kayjay2018 · 22/08/2022 20:14

We are in the neither category. Doesn't help DH had a stroke 3 weeks ago so things are stressful at home anyway!

Finally received the result last night at 10:30z. Sent very kindly by one of the school teachers checking email before they went to bed (they are on holiday).

I've been able to confirm his uni place this morning so just need to see what the accommodation situation is now
