Struggling to find a definitive answer on this on line and wonder if the gurus here can help!
DS1 is going to study an Art Foundation year at a Uni away from home. There are no tuition fees but we have accommodation etc to pay. DS1 doesn't think he can apply for a maintenance loan but I get different answers on line....sole say no and some say yes!
Anyone have any experience here? Thanks

No, you will not get maintenance because Art Foundation is an FE not HE course (even when provided by a University). Often a student would attend their nearest institution and stay at home, but obviously you are free to go wherever you want. I think the confusion comes from the Foundation Years, or Year 0 which are now offered by lots of Universities in lots of subjects - these are considered HE and therefore attract maintenance.
