Late to the Uni game

So my DS has announced after being definite he didn't want to go to uni, that he now does. Has he left it too late? Where do I even begin? Does he just wait for clearing?

He thinks he has missed his school deadlines but will check with them all tomorrow.

Any pointers or links on where I go from here would be gratefully received as I'm about to set him and I off reading the internet and all it has to offer in the subject

He’s missed the main ucas deadline but he can apply late, up to June. But depending on the course it may seriously lower his chances. Yes, there’s clearing as well. Or he could do a gap year and apply in oct for sept 2023.

Doing a refined search on the UCAS website should show you the courses with places still available, I think.

@CovidCorvid thank you, I've told him there is a chance it could be he waits for clearing, he doesn't really want to do a gap year, and I'm not sure if delaying the start means he is under the new student loan payback rules or not, I need to look into what those changes are and when they apply from

@PassTheGinSheila thank you - I've been on the UCAS site and filtered and looks there are spaces still available at the uni he likes the look of and doing the courses he is interested in (he needs to select which actual course), that makes me feel a bit more relaxed . The uni also seem to indicate in their website he hasn't left it too late to apply. Now he needs to get his skates on and actually get started in the application process

Just anecdotally OP - a friend's lad was adamantly against uni, then about this time (last year) he decided he did want to go - he applied late and was offered places (admittedly not at a very popular uni nor for a very popular course) - he is now happily in his first year and in halls. Yes he is not studying sports science at Lboro nor maths at Warwick but he is doing what he wanted to do so that works.
