Anyone heard from Edinburgh for 2022 entry?

My son applied to the college of art and hasn't heard anything since submitting his portfolio in early December. Anyone know when offers might go out?

Still quite early for art school offers as portfolio deadlines have only recently closed. Even though Edinburgh doesn’t interview (typically) I wouldn’t expect offers until towards mid/end of April. Though that may change depending on your fee status.

No heard nothing and nor has anyone my DD knows except the Vetmed students. Talking to another mother today and her DD also waiting.

Localher0 · 27/02/2022 22:53

Nope - nothing yet. Portfolio deadline was early Feb so we're 3 weeks in. All the other courses my DD applied for responded within a week of the portfolio deadline. Having said that we don't hold out much hope as the number of places available for "rest of uk" on her preferred course is tiny 😳

Localocal · 28/02/2022 21:58

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'll let my son know to stop worrying about it. He heard from another art school before Christmas and put both portfolios in at the same time, so it seems like forever.

But I didn't know they had quotas for different types of applicants. Is it based on where you come from or whether you are self funding or what? Something else to worry about instead!

It's way too early for Edinburgh, they're not the quickest to get offers out by a long shot. They'll come eventually but don't hold your breathe!! Good luck.

Rekorderlig88 · 28/02/2022 22:07

A different course but same uni my daughter heard mid march last year

Darbs76 · 01/03/2022 06:55

No not yet. DS applied in October as he applied to Oxbridge too, heard nothing yet (maths). He’s still waiting on 3 (Edinburgh, St Andrews and Imperial). He does have an offer for Warwick (rejection Oxford) but the wait is difficult. Especially with recent mocks I can see the pressure is building so knowing where he’s going would help

Localher0 · 01/03/2022 14:35

In my experience Edinburgh are always late to offer so not to worry yet.
I rang the art school to ask a different question about portfolio submission. While I was talking I asked how many spaces on DD's course - it was explained to me the there are separate quotas for Scottish/EU/Rest of UK and Rest of the World. I think all courses have some version of these.

Edinburgh have very good statistics on admission, you can find them here and see the offer rated for the art school - click on the link for the relevant fee status:

Localher0 · 01/03/2022 20:32

13% offer rate 🙄🙄🙄 you can see why DD isn't holding out much hope.....

Stockpot · 02/03/2022 12:49

DD is still waiting to here from Edinburgh for Geography MA. She is RUK and predicted AAA. She was accepted at St Andrew’s before Xmas. Looking at the link shared, she has a 30%. So, reasonable to hope but not a shoe-in.

Localocal · 02/03/2022 22:28

Crikey, it doesn't look good for my son. He is applying for Graphic Design and also for Illustration. Hoping maybe Illustration is in the Art category and not Design Technology. The chances in DT look terrible!

Sympathy to those going through the Art & Design application stress. My DC was in the 7% bucket last year!! Scottish fee status 😬 for design! Good luck to your DC.

Localocal · 03/03/2022 08:26

Thank you SO much for the posts everyone. It's so stressful not having any idea what they might be looking for in the portfolio and having to wait so long for news. Especially when they haven't had a real open day. It's all a bit of a black hole. Crossing fingers for everyone else on here!

Don't get excited !! Still haven't heard anything yet. But was just told that Edinburgh will make their decision on 31 March..... I'm sceptical but has anyone else heard?

shockthemonkey · 28/03/2022 17:09

Noooooooooo - still waiting to hear.

Localher0 · 28/03/2022 21:22

My DD just withdrew her application as she's really keen on NTU and wanted to firm them before the accommodation booking window opens. She'd already decided Edinburgh was too far away and although an offer would be a confidence boost she wouldn't have gone there. So that's one more place available 😬

Localher0 · 08/04/2022 06:18

Just bumping to see if anyone was successful with ECA? 🤞

Localocal · 12/04/2022 19:48

No, my son still hasn't heard from ECA. Growing ever more frustrated! Anyone else heard?

OP posts:
Localher0 · 13/04/2022 08:13

Gah! You must be soooo frustrated. I know if others, not ECA, who have received offers so hopefully your son's will come through soon. For what it's worth I think my DD is slightly regretting withdrawing as she has decided to defer and possibly do a foundation course now.....

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 13/04/2022 20:10

My daughter had applied for Edinburgh to study history. She hadn't heard anything and last week accepted a place at Glasgow which was her first choice.

MarchingFrogs · 13/04/2022 20:49

@Localher0, if less than 14 days has passed since your DD submitted her replies, she may be able to reverse her decisions- she needs to contact UCAS to discuss this.

Wbeezer · 13/04/2022 20:58

My DS got put off by the 7% offer rate for ECA and has applied for an HND instead as a sort of extended foundation. Shame, he really wanted to go as DH and I both went (the offer rate was only slightly higher in the 80s actually but at least the process of applying was more straightforward ore UCAS and we definitely heard sooner).

TJworried · 14/04/2022 22:53

Jumping on to ask if he applied and has heard from Napier? DD planning on applying next year and the thought of waiting this long fills me with dread. Ta

Wbeezer · 14/04/2022 23:06

@TJworried are you asking me? If you are, DS applied to Edinburgh College for Textiles, handed in his portfolio on March 28th and got an unconditional last week! All rather stress free.
