If you child has submitted an application, how long has it taken for the college/ sixth form to send it on? A friend has said her DD submitted weeks ago but the application hasn't been sent off. Is this normal? My DD went a few years ago, and I can't remember how long hers took!

The school checked it and it was sent off within the week-that was about 3 weeks ago. Most offers made now.

I'm pretty sure that all of ours had theirs sent off within a few days of pressing 'pay and send' (state grammar schools, 150 - 200ish in year 13, not sure how many had been October deadline applicants, but our DC weren't). DS1 completed his application around November 24th and had definitely had offers from all 5 universities before Christmas.

Friend's DD hasn't missed the form being 'returned' to her for something to be amended (e.g. a recordable qualification / spelling mistakes in PS) , has she?

Same day, comprehensive school. They sent it on a Thursday and she had five offers by the following Wednesday so a quick process!

Depends entirely on the amount of applications the school/college have to deal with OP. At DS's sixth form they have in excess of 500. The internal deadline was 30th November and most of them where handed in on that day (including DS's!). So I have no expectation that his will actually hit UCAS anytime soon. I think they aim for a 2 week turnaround. They all need to be carefully checked and references obtained from relevant teaching staff. Obviously very important to get them right!

But that's fine - UCAS deadline isn't until end of January.

I should say I work at DS's sixth form. Though I'm not involved in the UCAS process thankfully

Ds was an early applicant and his internal deadline was September 27 and it was submitted on October 14. He has friends who have submitted to school 2/3 weeks ago still waiting for ucas submission. The school said if they meet the internal deadline of 30 November then they will be submitted before Christmas. School is massive (maybe 800 applicants) and also hopeless so will likely be slower than most.

Deadline is end Jan so really no crazy rush. The top unis don’t ‘spend’ all their offers and many don’t even start processing until Feb/March.
