Does anyone work in a Uni or at student finance that could help??

DD started uni mid September but was offered a fantastic apprenticeship a week later. She contacted the Uni and filled out a withdrawal form. They confirmed that as she had withdrawn within 2 weeks there would be no fees payable.

She’d been paid the first instalment of her student loan so she contacted them who said they can’t do anything until the uni confirms she has withdrawn.

Well, the uni have been hopeless. Multiple phone calls, emails, all confirming that they’ve received the withdrawal form but she’s still got access to her uni accounts, still gets emails from the lecturer and course updates.
The money from student finance is still sitting in her account - we want to return it but can’t as they Uni just won’t sort things out!

They keep saying there’s a backlog??! Of what???? So frustrating we can’t get anywhere. The way things are going she’ll receive next terms student loan payment- she doesn’t want it but are going around in circles trying to sort it out.

Any tips? Or just sit and wait for them to get around closing everything down and informing a student finance??

Honestly - just wait. Yep it's inefficient and slow, but term 1 is hideous. I know my colleagues that deal with this have huge backlogs. The deadline for us to inform SFE is late December so still a few weeks to ensure she doesn't get term 2's loan.

Sorry - we need more staff processing this sort of thing but no money to pay them....
