Nottingham uni open day - campus tour only?

DS is booked in for the open day on the 9th, but it looks like it is just a tour of the campus that is available.

Has anyone been to either of the other 2 dates (sept/oct) and can let me know if we can visit departments and accommodation?

Doesn't seem worth the long drive just to wander round the grounds.

Thanks!

We went in September and found it very helpful.

All subjects had 'stalls' in marquees etc so you could go and chat to staff and students about the courses. Some builidngs were open to see facilities. We weren't interested in sciences so don't know if you could see labs etc. Email them - they are very helpful.

Lots of other 'stalls' for libraries, wellbeing, fees etc

Able to have a good look around the libraries and the student union

Free to wander around the sports centre and see al the facilities.

Quite a few rooms in different accommodation blocks available to look round with people outside to ask questions.

Loads of campus tours going on too.

Easy parking on site.

Found it really useful.

As the above poster stated. Plus my department was offering tours of the building (science-based), it was turn up at a specific time for a guided tour on the day (no pre-booking). I don't know if all departments were doing this though.

Students and staff from the course will be there to answer questions too.

I assume you are going to the main university park campus and that the course is based on this campus?

We are going on Saturday, DD interested in Chemistry Msci. Do you know if there are any Chemistry talks?. Can we see the labs?

@Seeline @CupcakesK
Thank you! Really appreciate that.
We would be aiming for aerospace engineering.
So are the morning and afternoon sessions just to limit numbers on site a bit and we're then free to roam?
I'll email the department and see if they have tours planned.
Sounds like a worthwhile journey.

Yes, to manage numbers for viewing everything and for parking, but we once you’re there you can stay as long as you like. You’ll be able to walk around the student union building too as that’s all open now.

I’d contact the departments as I’m not sure what chemistry or aerospace engineering are doing with regards to tours/talks though

I hope your DC enjoy it!

There was a subject talk available on line before we went for DDs subject. We watched that and could then ask questions when we got there.
