Charities that help girls in 3rd world access education

We once sponsored a girl in Kenya to attend school. She was supposed to write periodically and since she only wrote once we were never sure of the impact of our modest contribution.

My business has just had a small windfall. I would like to send some of it to a reputable charity that, as the title suggests, helps disenfranchised girls attend school or university.

Does anyone know of any good ones?

Oh sprouts, thanks - donation already made though! Feeling happy about that, but will bear yours in mind for next time... having had troubles of my own with my own birth certificate.

The town where I was born has been renamed since, and the actual country no longer even exists. It's hard when your very existence is questioned as everything flows from there!

I can see you’ve made your donation already, but came on here to recommend Camfed too! Project Luangwa (in Zambia) is also very good and worthwhile. You can sponsor individual children through them.

We are looking into Maisha girls safe house with a view to paying a girls school fees.
