DD has an offer for French and Spanish at Edinburgh. If anyone has recent experience of modern languages at Edinburgh, would be interested in hearing from you.

Same for DT2, but for French and Italian. Undecided to insurance this or Bath with St A’s likely firm. Any feedback would be gratefully received

Hi, i would also be interested to hear. My DD is still waiting to hear back from Edinburgh for German

@hollypocks
Bath is very business focussed so make sure she really looks at course details. My DD found Bath too narrow.

Ditto the other universities. Are they offering traditional courses which are literature based? How broad are the options? In terms of employments it won’t make much difference but getting what you want from a course should be a priority.

Thanks @PresentingPercy those are good points, love the campus and reputation of Bath but Edinburgh seems a good ‘traditional’ course. Heard mixed things about student welfare during pandemic at Edinburgh whereas Bath seem to have been amazing. Another factor I guess..

I really don’t know about the pandemic and hopefully there will be improvements next year. I do think a broad spectrum of options is important snd Bath isn’t really well known for its humanities. DD enjoyed art, literature and culture modules. Plus great options for year abroad. It all needs to be in the mix in my view.

@PresentingPercy That’s very true, Bath has excellent placements and prospects for grad employment, DS wasn’t too taken with online visits for Edinburgh so far but subject talks next week. Hopefully he’ll get the grades for St As though as def first choice now.

@hollypocks
I think the top Traditional universities will all have good variety of options. DD really felt it was about where she wanted to live for 3 years. Job prospects are pretty much the same from anywhere that’s prestigious with MFL. It’s a door opener but you have to walk through it. DD converted to law and is a barrister so not much is off limits.
