Residential sixth form college charging for catering during lockdown

I’m wondering what people’s views are when it comes to college fees during corona virus lockdown? My daughter attends a residential sixth form college as we live abroad and while we don’t pay for her education we do pay for her room and meals. In January this year she returned to college for 10 days and though the residency remained open for international students, we were advised by them to bring our daughter home for lockdown, which we did. She returned in March when schools reopened. Now the college have invoiced for this terms fees in full and we are surprised that there is no discount. They say that as the residency remained open we had the option for our daughter to remain. I don’t expect a refund but at least to not pay for the three meals a day they didn’t’have to provide..Am I being unreasonable?

You need to pay at least a proportion of the cost, because they still have to cover catering staff wages etc.

Some discount (because they can reduce the amount of food they needed to buy) seems reasonable. Assuming of course the length of her non-attendance was predictable enough for adjustments to be made

They could presumably have furloughed some of the catering staff, if many students were not in school.
