4 years since A Levels and the wait for August and confirmation of where our chicks were about to fly the nest to.
It's been 4 years that has sprung a few surprises along the way, not least this lovely series of threads.

Glad it went well, Tilly. Sunshine after does help.

Malbecfan · 03/07/2021 16:29

Glad it went well BTM.

Errol, I think you can watch them again - at least 'm hoping to do that. DD's was amazing yesterday. Shattered from driving and the awful traffic on the M3/A303. At least it sounds better than the M5 which my satnav was trying to send me along.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2021 16:36

The YouTube currently available has the same glitch, unfortunately.

Horsemad · 03/07/2021 17:29

😳 Oh @ErrolTheDragon, what rotten timing!! I bet you & your DH couldn't believe it.
Hopefully you'll get to see the recording at some point. 🤞

So far I've been thwarted with graduations - DS1 dropped out and DS2's postponed due to a pandemic! 🤨 Hopefully DS's Masters graduation will take place at the end of the year... 🤞🤞

Glad you enjoyed your DD's Malbec 🙂

Eve · 03/07/2021 19:27

Oh no Errol , that’s so frustrating. Hope you get nice photos though.

.. sorry to all of you not getting graduations , it’s such a shame after all years of hard work ☹️

bigTillyMint · 03/07/2021 19:53

Yes DDs was postponed last year and has been postponed again. Just hoping her Masters graduation might go ahead next Feb!

latedecember1963 · 04/07/2021 07:56

Glad your mum's funeral went well, Tilly.
I hope you manage to get a recording of your DD's part of the ceremony, Erroll. What an anticlimax for you and your DH.

@bigTillyMint - sorry about your mother. My parents are heading towards their late 70’s. Still healthy but I do worry being so far away although thankfully my sister is local to them.

DT’s are 22 today - DS is still in Uni at Warwick and DD at work in Brussels. First year we aren’t together on their birthday. We’re having a family zoom call this evening with Canada, US, U.K. and Belgium so a chance to ‘see’ them. I wish they were still five and at home with us!
I got pinged by track and trace so had 10 days of isolation which finished last Thursday. Wasn’t ideal timing as we’re trying to get some work done on the house as we’ve decided to rent it out when we move to Canada (whenever travel restrictions are lifted). Now my isolation has finished the workmen can come and finish the work.
Congratulations to those with job offers and completions of degrees.

Needmoresleep · 05/07/2021 09:15

I hope the move goes well Parker, and hope that your family can be reunited in person.

I also hope that graduations both happen and go well, and I hope Errol can retrieve the missing footage. DD has heard through a friend that Imperial will be holding a graduation in October for their own students, but she does not know whether external intercalation students will be included. We have a holiday booked (Guernsey) and would need to cancel before August. I hope she knows soon. We went to two of DS's (BSc and MSc) and would want the chance to celebrate DDs achievement during this very difficult year. DS had a black eye in his photos. He got injured in the hat throw.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/07/2021 17:08

A hat throw injury.... well, I suppose that's apt enough.

DH has been on a round trip to collect the first half of DDs stuff. Hopefully after some driving practice and being given my car, she'll be able to do her own move back.

latedecember1963 · 05/07/2021 18:47

Belated birthday wishes for your twins yesterday, Parker.
DS2 got his result today and has got a 1st. He's a very happy bunny.
I called by M and S on my way home from work to get some treats for tea.

Congratulations @latedecember1963 !

The best news today is that the travel restrictions are removed for those who have had both vaccinations! We’re off to see DD, my parents and DSis! Can’t wait to hug DD.

Horsemad · 08/07/2021 15:46

Great news @Parker231, how long since you saw them last?

Good news for Parker. Meanwhile in the last half an hour we were emailed to say our holiday is cancelled for most of the 10 of us was the first holiday (or in my case even night away) since summer 2019. Never mind. At least with just under 2 weeks to go we know one way or another now. Apparently I will get the refund within a month.
In some ways it is better for my son who has a resit on 4 August and his twin who is in his first full time paralegal job (although his work were told about the holiday before he took the job and were okay about it).

Xenia · 09/07/2021 17:14

.. cancelled full stop I meant to write. Just that for most of the 10 it was our first for a while.

Xenia · 09/07/2021 17:14

One son is collecting his twin from Bristol tomorrow. After 4 years it the end of an era for the Bristol one and his sad to leave.
