4 years since A Levels and the wait for August and confirmation of where our chicks were about to fly the nest to.
It's been 4 years that has sprung a few surprises along the way, not least this lovely series of threads.

Thanks @latedecember1963 🙂

These threads are great, aren't they? Supportive, encouraging and helpful! It's going to be interesting seeing where they go next...

Horsemad · 06/03/2021 17:46

Our graduates, I mean - not the threads! 😆

latedecember1963 · 06/03/2021 18:03

Thanks for doing the link, Errol. 🤗

End of an era, moving on to being 'proper grown ups'!

Taking HorseMad's comment from the last thread - yes, DD made some comment on her 22nd birthday to that effect. And she's just got the final copy of her job contract.

SMaCM · 06/03/2021 18:24

DD can't wait to get back to work. She made some good friends in the bar and hasn't been able to see them since lockdown.

She got annoyed when she went up to use some space at the uni the other day and they've introduced higher parking charges. She now has a parking permit.

We had a celebration yesterday, DH (a GP) had his second vaccination and I (volunteer one day a week doing vaccinations but in my late 40’s) was offered my first. Feeling that we’ve taken a huge step towards returning to a more normal life.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2021 10:56

DH and I had our first jabs last week. Plan on the assumption you may feel quite rough for a day or two - but I've never felt so good about feeling bad!Grin

Parker231 · 07/03/2021 11:17

Errol - have been joking with a friend who is 51 and has a serious case of vaccination envy. Who would have thought that having a vaccination would be so look forwarded to.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2021 11:21

It was a reason to celebrate turning 60!Grin

Horsemad · 07/03/2021 11:23

Congrats on the vaccs, ladies! 😃

Parker231 · 07/03/2021 14:19

I got a sticker! Some of the more elderly were planning on keeping their sticker to show to their grandchildren.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2021 14:39

So did I.Grin

Thanks for the thread. Can't quite believe we'll get back to "normality" as I'm now so used to going nowhere. I am excited at the thought of vaccination !

Carriemac · 07/03/2021 21:56

DS 2 has got a grad job! And DS1 passed his mes school finals and will hear about his F1 post location Thursday, he hoping for London. DD ( DS2 s twin) still doing her masters. So nice to hear how everyone’s DCs are doing, especially the twins :)

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2021 23:15

Congratulations to them, CarrieMac!

I had mine too, I was fine the first evening apart from feeling sick but then had a temperature I think, hot one minute, shivering the next and slept most of the day,the next day I was fine. My immune system was doing its job I expect.
Parker231 · 08/03/2021 07:04

Congratulations @Carriemac. It’s lovely when their careers start falling into place although I sometimes wish my DT’s hadn’t both gone after jobs which involved getting visas - an added complication!

en0la · 08/03/2021 08:55

That's great news @Carriemac

As for visas @Parker231, hopefully they come soon. Is that for Canada?

Parker231 · 08/03/2021 09:04

DS has a Canadian passport. His post grad job is in Singapore. His new employer is organising the visa for him. We went through the same last year with DD getting a job in Brussels.

I knew Canada was involved somewhere, sorry i couldn't remember the other countries.
Haffdonga · 08/03/2021 18:54

Hello everyone, thanks for the new thread Smile

Massive congratulations to both @carriemac 's DS. Are they planning big celebrations when allowed?

SMaCM · 08/03/2021 22:20

I get my vaccine on Friday 🎉

DD got a parking ticket, because her uni brought back parking charges without communicating it very well. They have cancelled the ticket.

Carriemac · 08/03/2021 23:04

@Haffdonga yes - we are hoping to squeeze in a blow out weeks family holiday end June / early July to celebrate very late 21sts / graduations / Jobs offers
