Great news @CeliaCanth, stay and talk with us.

Beetlesand · 27/02/2021 00:45

Great news @CeliaCanth!
Dc firmed and insured today (after go ahead from school) . Seemed v happy to make the decision.

SeasonFinale · 27/02/2021 11:31

EU students are down but general Overseas are up in even graeter numbers than usual.

chopc · 27/02/2021 12:19

@SeasonFinale this surprised me ...... however everyone from DS old school abroad who were applying abroad have still applied so shouldn't really surprise me

quest1on · 27/02/2021 13:21

Season - thanks for the heads up just now that some Geog offers actually came out yesterday. DS has not mentioned anything, so I assume he didn’t get one (I don’t ask)! He did say something yesterday about an email which said something along the lines of “we would like to reassure you about your application, sorry for delay, etc etc.” What a faff!

Vargas · 27/02/2021 14:57

Ds has an offer from Durham for Geography! No email from them but he had an email from UCAS. Standard offer. He's thrilled. I hope other dcs find out soon.

chopc · 27/02/2021 15:29

Congratulations @Vargas DS. Is that his current top choice?

Beetlesand · 27/02/2021 15:43

Congrats to your ds Vargas!

I am not sure if this will allow you access but you can see the drop in EU applicants and rise in non EU.

You can also see that the number of reapplicants did not significantly increase.

SeasonFinale · 27/02/2021 15:49

However here are the early application (15 October deadlines) which show similar drop in EU applicants and rise in non EU. But reapplicants was significantly higher. I am trying to see if this was mainly due to higher number of medical applications.

Sorry last 2 take you to the main page apparently but assume you can get to them through the links indicated if they are of interest to you. I also assume they are open to all rather than adviser only pages but let me know if any issues.

Vargas · 27/02/2021 16:07

@chopc Yes, Durham is his first choice but he hasn't heard about college allocation yet, not sure if that will impact him if it's not one of his top 5. I think it does mean that if he firms it then he can't have Exeter for insurance as the offers are the same....

SeasonFinale · 27/02/2021 16:15

Vargas - Durham would not (usually) accept him if he were to drop a grade whereas it is quite possible that Exeter would still do so, so sometimes you can insure with an offer that is the same but it is risky. Also sometimes Exeter may offer the same course but at their Penrhyn campus instead.

chopc · 27/02/2021 16:43

@Vargas everyone on the Durham thread says you love whatever college you get allocated so hope this won't be a make or break factor

quest1on · 27/02/2021 16:56

Hi well he’s had a Durham offer now. Good news in the sense it was another loose end, but he’s waiting for LSE and if he doesn’t get that, he’d firm UCL (AAA) and insure Bath (ABB). He couldn’t insure Durham anyway as its slightly higher requirement.

chopc · 27/02/2021 17:38

I am relieved for you @quest1on ! Even if one doesn't want to go there it's good for the morale to have the offer

Beetlesand · 27/02/2021 18:21

Good to hear of other Durham offers coming in. Well done to your ds @quest1on. I guess even if not particularly useful in terms of final choices ... it’s still good to tick that box

quest1on · 27/02/2021 18:43

Thankyou and I’m sorry, I meant to say, congratulations to Vargas’ DS and others on Durham, as well as your DC Beetle on firming. What a relief that must be! I fear we have another month of uncertainty still looming...

Jan069 · 27/02/2021 18:51

Congrats @Vargas and good news @quest1on for Durham offers. It's certainly morale boosting even if dc favour other unis more. DD will be delighted to receive an Edinburgh offer even though she has no intention of either firming or insuring there!

bendmeoverbackwards · 27/02/2021 19:43

Great news on Durham offers @CeliaCanth @quest1on and @Vargas well done to your dc!

Dd is still waiting! Come on History! Anyone else still waiting for Durham who wants to keep me company?

Applepieco · 27/02/2021 19:57

@bendmeoverbackwards

Fair few of DS’s friends still waiting for Durham, mainly History, English & Law.

Jan069 · 27/02/2021 21:17

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for your dd bend, don't give up hope! Durham could still keep you hanging on another 2-3 weeks but I really hope you get good news soon.

Pumpkintopf · 27/02/2021 22:14

Just popped in to say hi, lovely to see the Durham offers starting to come through, congratulations to all dc.

Chilldonaldchill · 27/02/2021 22:26

Some Durham history applicants got a "sorry you're still waiting, we'll try and get back to you before the end of March" email today.
