Copies of the old thesis

Does anyone if universities keep copies of Batchelor degree dissertations and Master degree thesis? I am just curious as I don’t have my copy of these transcripts, from over 20 years ago and was just wondering how easy it would be to get copies? Neither were very good, from what I recall, but just would be curious to see my work from all those years ago.

Was it a research masters? Often these theses are sent to the university library. But theses from taught programmes are not retained. We're actually required to dispose of assessment after a certain period of time has elapsed (I can't remember what it is, but much less than 20 years).

I work in this area. I'm going to say no, sorry. Very occasionally they might keep an MRes thesis, depending on discipline, but otherwise it's just PhD theses they'll keep

Sorry, stupid question but what distinguishes a research masters to that of taught one?

Just googled it and it was definitely taught. Thanks for your responses. It’s a shame but I guess logistically it would be very difficult to keep this kind of information for every student that ever studied!

Might be worth asking your parents. I have here at home those of my 5 children and the word versions if they sent them to me to check spellings (and even had a scan of a few pages of them)

...in our case I mean university undergraduate dissertations...

Copies of PhDs will be kept, probably in the library, but it's unlikely that copies of an undergraduate degree have been kept for so long, just because of how many of them will have been submitted each year. If it has been kept, it's likely to have been kept by your faculty, so best to ask their admin staff or your dissertation tutor is they're still working there.

@Mavis101 you can search for your thesis via the British Library and even pay for it to be digitised if it's only in paper form, see ethos.bl.uk.

Ethos is for PhD theses. Not BA and MA dissertations.
